DT: The American Radio Relay League is a non-profit organization that promotes Amateur Radio. Its purpose is to promote and advance the art, science and enjoyment of Amateur Radio. The ARRL was founded in 1914 by Hiram Percy Maxim of Hartford, Connecticut.

The ARRL is the largest membership organization in the USA for radio amateurs with over 156,000 members. The ARRL represents its members with Congress and the FCC. They also are a member of the International Amateur Radio Union.

TBMMF: What else does the ARRL do?

DT: Other membership services include several magazines, broadcast of bulletins pertaining to amateur radio. Volunteer Examiner testing for amateur radio license, contesting, and assistance in emergency communications during disasters.

TBMMF: What makes ARRL fun and important?

DT: With amateur radio you can talk to other operator worldwide, bounce signals off the moon, talk to the astronauts. During disasters you communicate when other services a down. Help with public service events such as walks and bike rides.

The Town Hall building is also located near the church and it is also an 18th century building and contains some great historical portraits for public display.

Museum of Menorca is another landmark of Mohan and located near the Sant Francesc church. This museum is famous for its great collection of unique and historical relics which are related to the historical background of Mohan.

You will find many old paintings, old coins, maps and local pottery inside the museum. The Mohan Port is an important part of the city and known to be very deep and among biggest ports of the world and it was this port which gave Mohan a strategic importance in the previous years and even today. You can have some great views of the marina in Mohan by a glass bottom boat. The harbour of the villa holiday spain is also very beautiful and has some best views of the region.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- A number of Afghan national army soldiers have been arrested inside the country?s defense ministry over a foiled suicide bomb plot, officials told NBC News.

The soldiers were held on Monday afternoon along with 11 suicide bomb vests in a guard box in the building in the capital, Kabul, army officials said on Tuesday.

Afghan news web site Khaama also reported the arrests, saying the incident raises fresh concerns over infiltration of militants among the country?s Afghan security forces.

There were no further details immediately available.

Tim Marshall, foreign editor of UK channel Sky News, said that the incident was serious, and showed that the Taliban are determined to chase NATO out of the country.

"The fact that these arrests took place within the walls of the defense ministry illustrates the level of insurgent penetration within the Afghanistan establishment and just tells you -- gives a signal of -- what is likely to happen when NATO leaves," he said.

My mantra lately is "Crossed fingers and open hearts." We are trying (as ever) to go with the flow.

The grief of the ones we "lose" (even when we knew they were not going to be forever) is not something we ever get past, but we learn to live with it. When the grief bombs suddenly land in the middle of my otherwise perfectly nice days, I'm able to recover more quickly than I did at first. But I have a feeling that they will keep on coming, for a long time yet.

Venezuela court: news media should back up reports

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) ? Public warnings by critics of Venezuela's government about possible pollution of drinking water has brought a court order that the country's news media must back up any reports on the subject with hard data.

The court order announced Thursday was condemned by a group of Venezuelan journalists and news media union leaders who called it a violation of free speech.

The Prosecutor General's Office said the court issued an order stating that news outlets should act responsibly when reporting on accusations of contaminated water. It said news reports on the subject should contain "truthful technical support backed by a competent institution."

The measure came two days after President Hugo Chavez called for judicial authorities to investigate the actions of government opponents and news organizations that had raised concerns about possible pollution in rivers and a lake that supply drinking water plants for parts of central Venezuela and Caracas.

Chavez called the claims "war propaganda" and "terrorism" by his opponents.

"It's a big lie," the president said. "We have to act with respect to this, at least open an investigation and summon those who are saying this ... to ask them for evidence."

On Wednesday, Prosecutor General Luisa Ortega said her office had opened an investigation into complaints of water contamination several days earlier at the request of three Venezuelans who complained about news coverage of the issue. Her office asked the court to step in.

Ortega defended the court order Thursday, saying it aims to ensure "objective, truthful and opportune information."

Opposition presidential candidate Henrique Capriles condemned the court's action, calling it highly unusual.

"The problem of pollution can't be resolved by generating decisions in the courts to cover up complaints made by the community," Capriles told reporters.

The press freedom organization Reporters Without Borders also strongly criticized the court's stance.

"This is just politically motivated censorship," the organization said in a statement. "When the authorities are unnerved by a story like this, they tend to brand it as an attempt to 'destabilize' public order. Is the public so incapable of forming its own opinion?"
